I’m pleased to have one of my art quilts hanging in the Edwin Way Teale 2018 Writers & Artists-in-Residence at Trail Wood Program Exhibit (mouthful!). The exhibit is at the Connecticut Audubon Center in Pomfret. It showcases the work of the 2018 writers and artists-in-residence: poets, illustrators, painters, photographers, and one poet/textile artist (viz., me).

One of my conceptual quilts, Verse Forms: Space I has a prominent position above a gorgeous grey fox taxidermy, much to my delight. In fact, many of the works in the show are hung in relation to beautifully-preserved taxidermies of owls, woodpeckers, and more. It’s certainly a unique context for my abstract textile art; one I don’t expect will be repeated any time soon. I’m treasuring this strange relationship between a quilt and a fox.
The exhibit is up from January 20-February 23, 2019, with a closing reception on Saturday, February 23 from 2-4 PM. The writers and artists will speak about their work and the residency, bolstered by wine and cheese. Stop by and check out the exhibit, and stay for the birding; the countryside surrounding the center is breathtaking. And who knows? You might spot a fox, stalking in the reeds...
