I’m excited to have a poem published in this winter’s issue of Star*Line (volume 44, issue 1), published by the Science Fiction & Fantasy Poetry Association. My poem, “Odile,” about a certain sorcerer’s swan, falls more on the fantasy side of that equation; but I’ll happily read poems about aliens anytime. #swanlakeinspace
The Rime Podcast is live!
Introducing the Rime podcast! Gather around as poet MJ Millington (that’s me!) tells remarkable tales from the history of poetry. Wizard battles, time capsules, opium dreams, prophecies, witches and wombats—you name it, there’s a poem about it, and a good story to go with it. Listen in for a new tale each month at the Rime website (www.rimepodcast.com), Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, or wherever you get your podcasts. There are four episodes available as of this posting, set in times and places as far-ranging as ancient Egypt, Victorian London, and Depression-era Flushing Meadows, Queens. Enjoy!
I’ll be reading select poems from my new collaboration with photographer Meredith Miller
Meredith is presenting a talk about her previous photobook work, and we’re taking this opportunity to offer a first look at her photographs—and a first listen to my poems—from our new (award-winning!) collaborative series about endangered animals.
Hear me read some poems from my new series!
Download my Coloring Book!
Several years ago my colleague Meredith Miller and I created a coloring book in honor of the reopening of the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library. It was called A Beinecke Collection of Creatures, and it was an absolute phantasmagoria of weirdo creatures from the Beinecke’s collections, all brought together in one imaginary bestiary for the world’s coloring pleasure. And now, at last, it’s available for download, for absolutely free. So go forth and color!
Winner: Vermont Studio Center Broadside Competition 2020
I’m honored that my broadside collaboration with friend and photographer Meredith Miller has won the Vermont Studio Center Broadside Competition 2020. “Worth” is the first in a series of poems I’ve written to pair with Meredith’s visionary images about our relationship with animals (portfolio in progress).
